EXCLUSIVE: While A&E dropped a teaser prior to the holidays for its new horror series Damien, here’s the trailer that played at TCA this afternoon. Damien, which debuts Monday, March 7 at 10 PM is the sequel to the 1976 Richard Donner film The Omen and follows the grown-up Damien Thorn (Bradley James) who was the mysterious child in the film. Damien has grown up unaware of the satanic forces around him, and must come to terms that he’s the Antichrist. Overheard in this trailer is Barbara Hershey who stars as Ann Rutledge. She’s the powerful lady who assists Damien in realizing his true self.
Bringing Damien to life is former Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara. “I really wanted to look at something where someone is supposedly tasked with this horrifying future crime that he’s going to bring about the apocalypse,” explained Mazzara today at TCA.
And as far as that zombie show, Mazzara said, “I have not been watching (it), because I was doing this show.”
“I am just catching up on my TV viewing but as far as I know that experience on Walking Dead impacted this (show). One of the things that I love is that there’s this cinematic quality to Walking Dead. It’s a type of cinematic horror that I really enjoyed writing on that show. But what’s been fun about Damien, is that I developed this show,” adds the former Walking Dead EP.
