Comedy Central has picked up a fourth and fifth season of hit scripted series Broad City ahead of its Season 3 premiere on February 17. The network also said today that it has ordered three-episode limited series Time Traveling Bong from Broad City’s Ilana Glazer, Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello to premiere following Broad City‘s Season 3 finale on April 20.
Created by and starring Abbi Jacobson and Glazer, Broad City is an odd-couple comedy about two best friends navigating their 20s in New York City whose adventures always lead down unexpected and outlandish paths. Democratic White House hopeful Hillary Clinton is a fan, and she’ll make a guest appearance in the Season 3 premiere on February 17. In Season 2, Broad City was the No. 1 show in cable in its timeslot with Men 18-34 The series was listed in the Top 10 Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings each week and the multiplatform viewing increased ten-fold for Season 2, according to Nielsen stats.
Jacobson and Glazer executive produce along with Paper Kite Productions’ Amy Poehler and Brooke Posch, 3 Arts’ Dave Becky and Jax Media’s Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns. Eric Slovin, Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs co-executive produce.
Time Traveling Bong centers on two cousins (Glazer and Downs) who discover a time-traveling bong and ride high as they blaze through time. Their buzz is killed when the bong breaks and the cousins are forced to bounce around the space-time continuum, learning to appreciate there’s no time like the present. Time Traveling Bong will roll out across three consecutive nights, beginning on April 20 at 10:30 PM. The limited series is executive produced and written by Glazer, Downs and Aniello, who is also set to direct, and executive produced by Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment and Sam Reich.
