Art Directors Guild Nominations Unveiled

cinderellaNominees for the Art Directors Guild’s 20th annual Excellence in Production Design Awards were announced today, with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Joy, Cinderella, Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant among nominees in three film categories: period, fantasy and contemporary.

On the TV side, nominees include the likes of Game Of Thrones, Downton Abbey, Mad Men, Better Call Saul, Empire and American Horror Story: Hotel. A rare tie in the Variety, Reality or Competition category resulted in six noms: Conan, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Key & Peele, SNL, Top Chef and The Voice.

The ADG Awards in 11 categories will unveil its winners January 31 at the Beverly Hilton, where Joy writer-director David O. Russell will receive the guild’s Cinematic Imagery Award and TCM host Robert Osborne will accept the inaugural William Cameron Menzies Award for his work championing classic films. Also to be bestwowed are Lifetime Achievement Awards to scenic artist Bill Anderson, matte artist Harrison Ellenshaw, set designer William J. Newmon II and production designer Patrizia von Brandenstein.
