Veteran film and TV writer Arthur Sellers will receive the WGA West’s Morgan Cox Award, a career honor given in recognition of service to the guild. A former WGA board member, he served on numerous guild committees from 1987 to 2002.

“Arthur has given countless hours of time, sat in more meetings than anyone can count, in service of improving not his own lot, but the lot of all of us – and he’s done it with intelligence, with wit, with unceasing good cheer,” said WGAW President Howard Rodman. “He’s a living embodiment of generosity of spirit.”

Seller’s film credits include Modern Problems and, on the TV side, Max Headroom, The Richard Pryor Show and Cher’s 1979 variety special Cher …And Other Fantasies.

The award will be presented February 13 at the West Coast edition of the 68th annual WGA Awards at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Past recipients of the Morgan Cox Award include George Kirgo, Del Reisman, Frank Pierson, Carl Gottlieb, Patric Verrone and Daniel Petrie Jr.
