The Boston Globe has unveiled the Spotlight Investigative Journalism Fellowship, a $100,000 grant aimed at supporting the work of investigative journalists. The fellowship will be funded by Participant Media and Open Road Films with support from First Look Media; Open Road is the distributor of the pic, which centers on the Globe team’s Pulitzer-winning coverage of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

The money will be awarded to an individual or team of journalists to provide resources and support to pursue an in-depth investigative story with the opportunity to publish it in the Globe. Recipients will collaborate with an investigative journalist from the paper’s Spotlight Team and receive support and guidance from the editorial team and First Look Media team. Submissions are being accepted beginning today here.

The Tom McCarthy-helmed Spotlight opened November 6 and stars Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, Brian d’Arcy James and Billy Crudup.
