ABC’s Mistresses exemplified the runaway production issue when the summer drama last year left Los Angeles, where it filmed its abclogofirst two seasons, for Canada in an effort to trim costs. In the process, the series lost its original star Alyssa Milano. The void was filled by Jennifer Esposito, who played a new character in Season 3 but announced she won’t be returning when Mistresses was renewed for a fourth season. Today, Mistresses became the only series to get tax incentives from the California Film Commission so it can relocate back to Los Angeles. With Milano’s spot on the show vacant again, would the Charmed alumna return?

Savi had a presence in the Season 4 premiere, and the series’ showrunners have insisted that as a sister of one of the main characters, Savi would always be part of the fabric of the show.

In leaving Mistresses, Milano triggered a clause in her original contract that allowed her to depart should the series move filming away from Los Angeles.

“After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot Season 3 of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada, for financial reasons,” the actress said at the time. “It’s with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can’t relocate. I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and wife comes first, and I just can not uproot my children and separate the family by moving away. I will miss this job desperately and wish everyone the absolute best.”
