UPDATED: The Hercules: The Legendary Journeys duo of producer Sam Raimi and star Kevin Sorbo have reunited for a new drama, Miracle Man, which has been set up at NBC with Sony Pictures TV producing. Sorbo is set to topline and executive produce the project, with Raimi also exec producing.
Written/exec produced by The Great Debaters scribe Robert Eisele, Miracle Man centers on Jason Greene (Sorbo), a decorated Army Ranger who is nearly killed in Afghanistan. Haunted by the experience, he’s discharged and returns home to a wife who’s left him and an adult son he barely knows. As Jason struggles to piece his life together, he discovers a power – the ability to make miracles happen, marvels often small but real that can change people’s lives. Jason, tough and skeptical, is on a quest to discover why. Raimi, Sorbo and Eisele executive produce alongside Sorbo’s wife, Sam Sorbo, and his manager Sherry Marsh. Eisele penned The Great Debaters, starring and directed by Denzel Washington, and Hurricane Season, starring Forest Whitaker and Taraji P. Henson. On the TV side, Eisele wrote the TV movie 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story for ESPN and executive produced Showtime’s Resurrection Blvd. He is repped by Paradigm, Echo Lake Entertainment and attorney Alan Wertheimer. Raimi, repped by CAA, executive produces Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead, which has been renewed for a second season. At NBC, he also is producing a reboot of their action adventure series Xena: Warrior Princess, which is in development.
