NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt will moderate the NBC News-YouTube Democratic Candidates Debate, hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute, on Sunday, January 17, the network announced this morning.
The debate will be held at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, SC; Holt will be joined by “other NBC News political reporters and analysts,” NBC said. The event, sanctioned by the DNC and the South Carolina Democratic Party, will air live from 9-11 PM ET. It also will stream live on all NBC News digital platforms, NBC-owned stations and affiliates’ websites and the NBC News YouTube channel. Both the on-air broadcast and digital stream will incorporate questions from YouTube and Google Trends data.
South Carolina is home to the so-called “First in the South” primary. The next Dem debate will be held Saturday in New Hampshire, broadcast by ABC News. NBC’s Dem debate is the first of 2016 and the fourth of six DNC-sanctioned faceoffs.
