The ratings force wasn’t quite with the Kennedy Center Honors whose roster of honorees this year included Star Wars mastermind George Lucas. Airing while the latest installment in the Star Wars saga is breaking box-office records, the special drew a 0.9 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.5 million viewers overall. That was down from last year (1.2 in 18-49, 9.25 million) and tying an all-time low in the demo posted in 2013 when the Kennedy Center Honors aired against a football game on Sunday.

Still, the annual special, which this year also honored Rita Moreno, Cicely Tyson, Seiji Ozawa and Carole King, helped CBS win the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers against all-repeat competition. Helmed by a new producing team, it was the second highest-rated program on the night behind its lead-in, a repeat of NCIS (1.2, 10.4 million).
