This morning’s Golden Globe nominations were full of snubs and surprises – especially for America Ferrera and Gina Rodriguez. The Superstore actress was on hand early as one of the announcers of the noms, but online it seems the Jane The Virgin star was the one onstage at the Beverly Hilton.
Besides the obvious embarrassment, what makes matters worse is that both of the Latina actresses are past winners of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual shindig. Ferrera won for Ugly Betty back in 2007, and Rodriguez took the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical prize earlier this year. This morning, Rodriguez was nominated in the category again. She faces Lily Tomlin, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jamie Lee Curtis and fellow CW-er Rachel Bloom.
The HFPA quickly fixed their faux pas and deleted its previous tweet. “What occurred this morning was an unfortunate error,” said the organization in a statement Thursday. “Our sincerest apologies to America and Gina.” That’s an understatement.

In a classy move, Rodriguez simply ignored the slight – at least online.
Speechless gratitude. @goldenglobes
