This could be the very definition of “teaser.” Warner Bros has released the first look at Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the debut screenplay from Harry Potter wiz J.K. Rowling that extends her and WB’s lucrative franchise. The plot is laid out in one of the only pieces of dialogue in the clip: “Yesterday, a wizard entered New York with a case — a case full of magical creatures. And unfortunately some have escaped.” That wizard would be writer Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), who the film follows 70 years before Harry Potter would read his textbook at Hogwarts. In the teaser, he opens his case “just a smidge” but clearly that doesn’t tell the whole story.

The studio has set a November 18, 2016 release date for the first pic in a planned trilogy.
