Here’s a little holiday morsel: Benedict Cumberbatch dons the gear as Doctor Strange for the first look at Marvel’s latest superhero tentpole, which began production last month with Scott Derrickson directing and Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen starring opposite Cumberbatch. Entertainment Weekly‘s upcoming “The First Look Issue” features the Sherlock star in character as surgeon-turned-sorcerer; he said in the accompanying article that the photo shoot marked one of the first times he tried on his costume.

“It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically,” Cumberbatch told the magazine. “I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet.”

Disney has set a November 4, 2016 release date for the pic. Here’s EW‘s cover — so how about the positioning of that finger?
