The hourlong show, adapted from the British variety series Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, was hosted and executive produced by Harris and featured Nicole Scherzinger as co-host. It debuted on September 15 with big fanfare by the network and OK ratings. Best Time Ever, which featured a mix of stunts, taped segments, pranks by Harris and celebrity guest appearances, saw its ratings perk up behind The Voice, leading to the network delaying its move from 10 PM to 8 PM by two weeks. The show’s numbers slid in the 8 PM slot. Best Time Ever was part of a recent push by NBC to make live programming a priority, particularly followed by the ratings success of The Sound Of Music Live! starring Carrie Underwood, Peter Pan Live! starring Allison Williams as Peter Pan and most recently The Wiz Live!
