With one more day left in the year, it is time, as the Beatles used to say, for the toppermost of the poppermost with for my Top 5 new shows of 2015. Like the wide-ranging choices of December 28’s Part 1 of the Top 10 new shows of 2015, today’s video menagerie above has something from the Big 4 networks, something from HBO, something very unexpected and razor sharp from another part of the cable universe, a new take on a story we thought we knew and something from streaming via Marvel – so click and take a look.

DL_LookBackLet’s be clear – even with such great shows as those that made this list, there was a ton of television out there in 2015 and some very strong and swinging contenders. A lot of people loved USA Networks’ Mr. Robot, which is up for several Golden Globes nominations, but not me – I thought it was the fast-food version of Fight Club. However, if you look at the Big 4, you have to say that NBC’s Blindspot was one of the big breakout hits of the season so far. In fact, along with the Martin Gero-created tattooed crime drama, 2015 honorable mentions have to go to CBS’ Supergirl, Hulu’s Difficult People, AMC’s record-bursting spin-off Fear The Walking Dead, Netflix’s Tina Fey and Robert Carlock-created The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Grace And Frankie starring Jane Fonda and Golden Globe nominee Lily Tomlin and FX’s Denis Leary comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

Having said that, watch the video above and tell us what you think of my Top 5 choices – especially Number #1! Was it deserved? What would you have picked? What do you think of those 2016 predictions? And have a Happy New Year!
