Broad Green Pictures has set a release date for Bad Santa 2, the sequel to the 2003 black comedy it is co-producing and co-financing with Miramax, on November 23, 2016, which is the Thanksgiving frame. Billy Bob Thornton, Tony Cox and Brett Kelly return in their original roles joined by Kathy Bates.

Mark Waters is directing a screenplay by Johnny Rosenthal, Doug Ellin and Shauna Cross. Geyer Kosinski and Andrew Gunn are producing. Executive producers are Miramax’s Zanne Devine and David Thwaites, Broad Green’s Gabriel and Daniel Hammond, Waters, Jessica Tuchinsky, Ellin and Adam Fields.

Principal photography starts next month in Montreal.

The Thanksgiving week frame already is filling up, with Disney’s Moana, Universal’s The Great Wall and Robert Zemeckis’ Brad Pitt-Marion Cotillard romantic thriller for Paramount already staking out Wednesday dates. The Weinsteins’ platform release of the Ray Kroc biopic The Founder is set for that Friday.
