Tonight’s planned live episode of NBC comedy series Undateable won’t air in light of the terrorist attacks in Paris. A repeat will run instead, the network said. The show’s cast and writers this afternoon posted messages of support to the victims of the attacks.
Also at NBC, NBC News has taken Dateline’s 10 PM time slot to cover the attacks in the French capital today. The show, Special Live Edition Of Dateline: Terror In Paris, will be updated for the West Coast broadcast.
ABC’s primetime Friday newsmagazine 20/20 is also doing a special edition, Paris Under Attack, which also will air at 10 PM with World News Tonight anchor David Muir and Elizabeth Vargas fronting live coverage.

On CBS, the network is boosting its CBS Evening News With Scott Pelley an hour. Fox has allowed its affiliates to carry sister network Fox News’ live coverage from Paris during primetime.
Broadcast news divisions called “all hands on deck” today according to sources, as they worked furiously to cover the story while not getting trapped into making statements that could not be verified. “It’s complete mayhem here,” said one Big Four news division source in the thick of it this evening. In addition to covering the events on the ground in Paris, the nets were also scrambling to look smart about the implications for the U.S.
NBC News’ veteran foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell early on opined that the attacks wry a devastating blow to U.S. intelligence, probing once again that “we don’t know what we don’t know” despite the masses of information gathered in the wake of 9/11.”

Much props. Followed the tweets. Good decision, hard decision. Like we say. This is a fun show. We need to be happy. Not a happy time right now. This is a time for thoughts and prayers.
Well, I love the “Undateable” cast right back and I compliment them for cancelling this week’s live show. I, too, send my condolences to my friends in France. Let’s pray for Paris and for France.
Quite honestly, the entire show should be cancelled……like, forever.
Really, you need to make this kind of comment. They were doing out of respect. How about showing respect and not commenting about the show this week.
Right. It had nothing to due with ratings, gimmicks, or publicity. This entire show is a gimmick. A very poorly written, poorly acted, and poorly produced — gimmick.
These idiot producers put the picture out there. So, yes, I will comment…..thank you.
Here’s an idea for you…don’t watch it! Thanks for leaving
You’re a Shmuck… Mucho Respect for the Cast & Crew of Undateable… Continued success on the show and making proper decisions when Thoughts & Prayers matter
If ya don’t like it, don’t watch it. Why are you even posting here? This is no doubt, the best sit-com on tv right now by far. There isn’t any other sit-com even worth watching anymore. All others have very predictable jokes that you can see coming from too far away and annoying laugh tracks turned up too loud to try to hide the fact that their jokes are bombing. At least Undateable has real laughter from the live studio audience.
Hahaha, the laughter is coming from the plethora of writers, producers, production staff, and crew members who want to work! They’re right there on stage laughing like morons from the first line that’s spewed during the very first read & blocking. BTW, the mixer pushes the audience so it sounds fuller than it is. The actors can’t get one line out of their unprofessional mouths without completely losing character and constantly breaking the fourth wall. Yes, I work on the show — for a paycheck. I’m not proud.
You don’t work on the show. You sit at home with your mom and comment on deadline stories because it makes you feel like a part of Hollywood. Good stuff, guy.
Also, the news coverage will get better ratings.
