EXCLUSIVE: Much like Freddy Krueger, mere death cannot silence the late Wes Craven. Case in point: North American rights to the crime thriller The Girl In The Photographs, the last film produced by the horror legend before he died, have been acquired by Vertical Entertainment, with plans to release the film sometime in Q2 2016.
From Alghanim Entertainment, Nick Simon is directing from a script he co-wrote with Osgood Perkins and Robert Morast. The film tracks the chaos that ensues when a celebrity photographer and his entourage drop in on a small town community to investigate the crimes of a local serial killer. The film premiered earlier this year in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival. Kal Penn stars along with Claudia Lee, Kenny Wormald, Toby Hemingway, Luke Baines, Miranda Rae Mayo, Katharine Isabelle, and Mitch Pileggi.
Wes Craven and Nawaf Alghanim executive produced the film, with Thomas Mahoney and Andrea Chung producing. Cinematography is by Dean Cundey, editing by Michael Griffin, production design by Eric Fraser, and music by Nima Fakhrara. Vertical Co-President Rich Goldberg and Vertical VP of Acquisitions Peter Jarowey negotiated the deal with CAA, who represented the filmmakers.
Nick Simon is repped by Kailey Marsh Media and Jonathan Shikora at Lichter Grossman Nichols Adler & Feldman.
