Alberto Belli, Pete Chatmon, Kate Barker-Froyland, Ellie Kanner, Solvan Naim and Marcus Stokes have been selected to participate in Sony Pictures Television’s 2nd annual Diverse Directors Program, SPT annouced today.

The initiative seeks to provide opportunities for artists of diverse backgrounds to shadow established TV directors on episodes of various SPT series. The six participants will work on SPT series including: The Blacklist, Dr. Ken, The Goldbergs, The Night Shift and Powers.

SPT received hundreds of submissions for the program. Out of those, 15 semi-finalists were selected to take part in an intensive episodic directing workshop, which consisted of five evenings of intimate discussion and instruction from working directors, production personnel and entertainment professionals. The program participants were selected from among those candidates.

“I know that these dynamic artists represent some of the best new directing talent anywhere, said Kim Rozenfeld, executive vice president, U.S. scripted programming for Sony Pictures Television. “We are very pleased to play a role in training them and providing them with an opportunity to learn from industry veterans.”
