Remember how the RNC chairman Reince Priebus announced last month he was pulling plans to let NBC moderate one of its upcoming GOP debates because he was so appalled by CNBC’s GOP debate? Turns out, they just moved it to late night. Late Night host (and SNL’s former Weekend Update anchor) Seth Meyers moderated.
Late last month, Priebus was facing revolt of his candidates over the committee’s lousy handling of the CNBC debate. Priebus sent a hot letter to NBC News chief Andy Lack, suspending plans for NBC to broadcast and moderate the February debate. “The CNBC network is one of your media properties, and its handling of the debate was conducted in bad faith,” Priebus wrote.
“We understand that NBC does not exercise full editorial control over CNBC’s journalistic approach. However, the network is an arm of your organization, and we need to ensure there is not a repeat performance,” Priebus wrote to Lack, who does not oversee CNBC.
