After five years at USA and UCP, Royal Pains executive producer/co-showrunner Michael Rauch is returning to CBS TV Studios with a two-year overall deal at CBS Television Studios. Under the pact, Rauch has sold a project, drama Toward the Light, to CBS.

Rauch is segueing to the CBS TV Studios deal after recently wrapping production on the upcoming eighth season of USA/UCP’s Royal Pains. USA is yet to make a formal announcement, but Season 8 is believed to be the Hampton-set series’ last last. Rauch ran Royal Pains with co-creator/executive producer Andrew Lenchewski for its entire run and is coming off back-to-back overall deals with the studio behind the USA dramedy, UCP.

The first of them, the supernatural Towards the Light at CBS, is inspired by the non-fiction book of the same name. Rauch will write the adaptation and will executive produce with Jonathan Levin and Jason Egenberg.

This marks Rauch’s return to CBS, where he created and executive produced the 2006 series Love Monkey under his overall deal with CBS TV Studios’ predecessor Paramount Network TV.

Rauch’s series credits also include Life Is Wild and Beautiful People. He is repped by CAA and attorney Kevin Kelly.
