The next Pitch Perfect movie is nearly two years away, but fans of unaccompanied-singing battles can get their fix early in 2016. Lifetime today pulled the curtain back on Pitch Slapped, an eight-episode docuseries set in the world of high school a cappella competitions. Premiering at 10 PM January 5, the series follows two crosstown-rival New Jersey teams that get to work with the world’s best coaches and face off in weekly clashes, crescendo-building up to a champion sing-off. Vocal powerhouse Deke Sharon (Pitch Perfect) and his team, Stay Tuned from Cherry Hill, will face off against The Voices from Allendale, led by performance coach Diana Preisler (Blue Jupiter).
Pitch Slapped is produced by All3Media America and Studio Lambert Associates along with InsomniaTV, which conceptualized the project. The series is executive produced by Stephen Lambert, Greg Goldman and Glenn Schubert in conjunction with Lifetime’s Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and Colleen Conway Grogan.
