FilmBuff and Orion Releasing have jointly acquired worldwide rights to Charles Hood’s romantic comedy Night Owls, which stars Adam Pally and Rosa Salazar and premiered this year at SXSW. The film will be released theatrically in select markets on December 4 and VOD the next day.

Written by Seth Goldsmith and Hood, the pic centers on workaholic Kevin (Pally) who goes home with the beautiful train-wreck Madeline (Salazar) for a drunken one-night stand, and is then horrified to discover she’s actually his boss’ jilted ex-mistress. After Madeline takes a bottle of sleeping pills, Kevin is forced to keep her awake all night, and through the banter they begin to fall for each other. Tony Hale, Rob Huebel and Peter Krause co-star.

Toby Louie is producer and Jordana Mollick, Brendan Bragg, Jesse Hara, Mauricio Betancur and Kevin Mann of Haven Entertainment are executive producers. The deal was negotiated by Haven and Preferred Content.

Factory 25 has acquired world rights to Almost There, the documentary from Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden about about the two filmmakers’ discovery and complicated curation and caretaking of elderly “outsider” artist Peter Anton. The pic, which world premiered at DOC NYC 2014, will kick off its release December 5 at New York’s Cinema Village followed by week runs in Chicago and the Arena Cinema in Los Angeles and a broader release through the winter.
