Molly Parker (House Of Cards) has landed a key role in Trial, the Amazon Studios legal drama from The Practice creator David E. Kelley. It centers on Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton), a once-powerful lawyer who has become a shell of his former self after losing a case that saw an innocent kid murdered. His guilt-driven alcoholism cost him his wife and his job as his longtime partner Cooper turned on him and kicked him out of their law firm. Still hanging onto his dry charisma, Billy now is going head-to-head against Cooper, bringing a case against his former partner, which begins to stir in him his old ambition.

Parker will play Judge Keller. With a low-key style but steely resolve, Keller presides at the initial hearing at the wrongful-death case that Billy is bringing against a huge corporation that’s represented by Cooper & McBride. After publicly humiliating him, Keller finds herself on the hook when Billy turns the legal tables back on her. The cast also includes Olivia Thirlby, Maria Bello, Sarah Wynter and William Hurt.

Parker plays Rep. Jackie Sharp on Netflix’s House Of Cards, whose fourth season premieres in 2016. Other TV credits include a regular role on NBC’s drama The Firm and an arc on Dexter. She next appears in the features American Pastoral, opposite Ewan McGregor — who is making his directorial debut — Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning, and Alexandre Aja’s The 9th Life Of Louis Drax with Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon and Aaron Paul for Miramax.

Parker is repped by CAA, Circle of Confusion and Red Management.
