ICM Partners has hired former Aitken Alexander Associates literary agent Anna Stein to join the agency’s publications department. She will be based in the New York office beginning December 1.

Stein’s clients include National Book Award finalist Ben Lerner; Hanya Yanagihara, whose book A Little Life is a National Book Award finalist and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize; and Maria Semple, a New York Times bestselling novelist. Before opening Aitken Alexander’s NY office in 2009, Stein was an agent and foreign rights manager at the Irene Skolnick Literary Agency.

The ICM Partners publication division, run by Sloan Harris and Esther Newberg, continues to bolster its ranks after forming alliances in 2013 with the Gelfman Schneider Literary Agency in New York, and in 2012 with literary agent Rafe Sagalyn to bolster its Washington, D.C. presence.

In July, Helen Brann, whose literary agency reps the likes of Robert B. Parker and Stephen Sondheim, sealed a succession arrangement with Newberg and ICM that will eventually bring Brann’s stable of writers into the agency’s fold.
