Following the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris this evening, former Vice President Al Gore suspended his Live Earth 24 hour telecast held in advance of the United Nations global warming summit scheduled to happen in the French capital November 30.
“Out of solidarity with the French people and the City of Paris, we have decided to suspend our broadcast of 24 Hours of Reality and Live Earth. Our thoughts are with all who have been affected and the entire nation of France,” Gore said in a statement. “We send our condolences to the families of those who have been killed or injured.”
The event, a live telethon broadcast online and staggered between eight cities, was stopped just under five hours after starting. Duran Duran had already performed, and appearances from Elton John, Jon Bon Jovi, and Pharrell Williams were also scheduled.
