There was some Alicia Keys, some more Vivica A. Fox, some Rosie O’Donnell and even some Lee Daniels himself in the penultimate Empire (3.1/ 10) episode of 2015 on a relatively quiet Big 4 night on Wednesday. As great swaths of America were on the road, in the air or in the kitchen prepping for Thanksgiving Thursday, the Danny Strong and Daniels co-created blockbuster was one of the few new offerings on TV Wednesday.

But even with the lack of broadcasting competition, the looming holiday took its toll on Empire as the show faced its first Thanksgiving and dropped 30% from last week among adults 18-49. That’s a series low for the hip-hop drama, down 18% from the previous low of its debut of January 7 this year. Still, once again, Empire was light years ahead of anything else on TV and the top rated and most watched show on TV with an audience of 9.11 million. Also it’ll be interesting to see what the Live + 3 numbers are for last night’s episode when all the turkey is said and done.

Rosewood (1.2/5), Fox’s other offering of the night, was down 20% from its November 18 show. As one of only two nets with new and original programming on last night, Fox easily won Wednesday among the demo with a 2.2/7 rating while CBS took the top viewership spot with 7.98 million.

CBS didn’t have an easy initial ride on the eve of Thanksgiving either with a 2-hour Survivor (1.8/6) down 14% from its 1-hour November 18 show. Facing off against Rosewood and Empire, that Survivor‘s first ever dip under a 2.0. That’s also a regular episode series low for the Mark Burnett produced reality vet — but again, there was code black logothat Thanksgiving Eve thing that saw millions of usual viewers busy elsewhere. Then again, throwing that trend partially on its head, freshman Code Black (1.4/5) was up 17% in the demo and up 15% in viewer (7.58 million) from its November 18 show to hit its best numbers since the show’s September 30 premiere. Of course, unlike previous weeks, the medical drama wasn’t facing any new competition in its time slot.

Otherwise Wednesday saw repeats on ABC and a timely showing of the Planes, Trains and Automobiles pic on the CW. NBC had a special The Making Of The Wiz Live (0.6/2) and a clip trip SNL Thanksgiving (1.1/4).

So now enjoy the parade, the football, the family and have a great Thanksgiving today!
