EXCLUSIVE: Lennie James, Colin Salmon, Alexander Karim, Mustafa Shakir and Isaach De Bankolé have been tapped to star in Double Play, the adaptation of Frank Martinus Arion’s novel that Juice and The Wire helmer Ernest Dickerson is directing. The screenplay was written by Evan Jones and Alaric Alexander Smeets, and production is ramping up to start this month on location in the book’s setting of Curacao.

DOUBLE PLAY BOOK COVERLouis Gossett Jr., Melanie Liburd, Saycon Sengbloh, Bronson Pinchot and Dani Dare co-also star in the island drama, based on the 1973 novel which evokes themes of colonial unrest on the Caribbean island during the tumultuous transition from Dutch colonial rule to autonomous self-governance. Over the course of a game of dominoes that lasts an entire day, the fates of four men (James, Karim, De Bankolé, and Shakir) are revealed through a journey of love, loss and deadly betrayal, while political, social and sexual rivalries are provoked.
