An average of 1.04M viewers caught TBS’ unveiling of Conan In Armenia at 11  PM ET Tuesday, 666K of whom fell into the 18-49 age bracket — both about double what Conan’s been averaging recently. Another 317K viewers of all ages watched a replay immediately after the premiere, at 12:30 AM ET, 226K of them in the demo.

Conan logoFor comparison sake, when TBS unveiled Conan O’Brien’s historic trip to Cuba in March, it logged 1.3 million viewers in its 11 PM ET premiere on Wednesday, after which the network immediately ran it again, posting another 510,000 viewers. That crowd grew to 3.7 million viewers who checked out O’Brien becoming the first American late-night host to do a show in Cuba in more than 50 years. Conan in Armenia likewise is expected to grow.

Unlike Armenia, Cuba was making headlines back then, on which Conan was able to capitalize; President Obama had said he would remove Cuba from the U.S. list of nations that sponsor terrorism as part of his move to restore diplomatic relations.

With its linear telecasts, the Conan In Cuba premiere on TBS and encores on TBS, HLN and truTV brought in more than 3 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery. That includes 1.6 million adults 18-49 and 794,000 adults 18-34.

The 3.7 million viewers were collected from multi-platform viewing across TBS’s premiere and encore telecasts, the Watch TBS website and app, DVR playback and set-top VOD. The show also brought in viewers through a pair of repeat runs on sister networks HLN and truTV.

Having discovered viewers like it when he’s out of the country, O’Brien last month announced his next trip abroad would be to to Armenia, homeland of his assistant Sona Movsesian. This time, O’Brien became the first US late night host to take the show to Armenia – and, as he noted on Twitter, the first to herd sheep.
