David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, One Chance) is in negotiations to direct Collateral Beauty, the New Line drama starring Will Smith that was in need of a helmer after Alfonso Gomez-Rejon departed in early October due to creative differences with the studio. Production originally was scheduled to begin in first-quarter 2016 and all parties want to keep the timeline, we hear, so the Frankel deal is expected to make.
