Writing and performing duo and UCB alums June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson have teamed with comedy writer-podcaster and fellow UCB-er Elizabeth Laime for Crystal, a comedy project for ABC through ABC Television Studios, where Raphael and Wilson have an overall deal.

Elizabeth Laime headshotWritten by Laime, with Raphael and Wilson supervising, the comedy centers on Crystal, a hustler from the wrong side of the trailer park who, fresh out of prison, lands a job in the suburbs as an in-home health aide. Despite having no education, experience or vaccinations, she is determined to succeed at her job and change her life. Raphael and Wilson executive produce with Laime serving as supervising producer.

Wilson and Raphael, who met in a clown class at NYU, are longtime writing and stage partners and best friends. They have performed together at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, co-wrote the feature Bride Wars and wrote and starred in the film Ass Backwards, which premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival. They wrote and produced NBC pilot The Mason Twins, which starred Raphael, and are set to star in and write a feature comedy produced by Jessica Elbaum for Adam McKay and Will Ferrell’s Gloria Sanchez.

Raphael is finishing her second season of the Netflix series Grace And Frankie and also can be seen in the upcoming Netflix series Lady Dynamite. She is repped by by UTA and attorney PJ Shapiro.

Laime got her start onstage at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York with her long-running one woman show, Dear Diary, and as part of the original Maude sketch team, Gunderson. She has done three podcasts: Totally Laime, Totally Married, and Totally Mommy. She is repped by JB Roberts at Thruline, and lawyer Adam Kaller.
