‘Tis the season to Bill Murray, fa la-la, etc. As we finalize our Thanksgiving plans, here’s a look at Netflix’s original special A Very Murray Christmas from director Sofia Coppola, who also wrote it with Mitch Glazer and Murray. The once-Not Ready for Primetime Player stars as himself as he frets that a blizzard is going to keep celebrities from coming to his variety TV show at Manhattan’s Carlyle hotel. But tries to maintain a positive attitude, saying without a hint of hyperbole, “Tonight will go down as the greatest night in history.”

A Very Murray ChristmasChristmas is a time for nostalgia, and the opening scene with a crooning Murray accompanied by Paul Shaffer on piano is certain to make Saturday Night Live fans of a certain age grin as they picture Nick the lounge singer — leisure suit replaced by tux, natch. Who else is marking the merriment? How about the likes of George Clooney, Chris Rock, Miley Cyrus, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzman, Michael Cera, Maya Rudolph and Rashida Jones? Now that’s a holiday party we’d like to crash.

Executive produced by Coppola, Glazer, Murray, Roman Coppola and Tony Hernandez, A Very Murray Christmas starts streaming December 4. Check out the trailer, and tell us what you think.
