UTA_Logo_RGB_PEXCLUSIVE: UTA is going all in on Wattpad, leveraging the success of its repping of the reader/writer community’s breakout novel After by inking a deal to represent the platform for film, TV, digital, and licensing and partnerships. Wattpad’s 40 million monthly users read, create and share serialized stories.

AfterIn April 2014, UTA made a deal to rep After, Wattpad’s breakout novel by first-time author Anna Todd. That led to the agency brokering a movie rights deal with Paramount Pictures. The novel, about a happy, optimistic young girl who falls in love with a guy with a dark side that is addictive, originated as a serialized three-part series that has accumulated more than 1 billion reads. Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot are producing the film via their Offspring Entertainment banner.

UTA has already made deals on Wattpad’s behalf, securing marketing partnerships with ABC for Once Upon A Time and the CW for Jane The Virgin with more in the works.
