Written by Burditt, the untitled comedy centers on an oddball athlete who drives family, friends and strangers bonkers after he unexpectedly finds himself retired. Burditt, Fey and Carlock executive produce with 3 Arts’ David Miner. Universal TV, where Fey, Carlock and Burditt are under overall deals, is the studio.
This marks the second sale for Fey’s Little Stranger production company, which does targeted development with 1-2 projects a year. The Burditt comedy joins a single-camera comedy written by another 30 Rock alum, Tracey Wigfield, which has a pilot order at NBC. Fey also executive produces it with Carlock and Miner.
Burditt served as an executive producer alongside Fey and Carlock on both 30 Rock, created by Fey, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, created by Fey and Carlock. Burditt shared with Fey and Carlock in 30 Rock‘s three best comedy series Emmys and shared a WGA Award win and two Emmy nominations with Carlock for his work on the NBC comedy.
This marks a return to multi-camera comedy for Burditt who started off on Mad About You and Frasier. He created ABC’s Last Man Standing, which kicks off its fifth season tonight.
