Hana Mae Lee, soon to be seen as Roxy in Jem And The Holograms, has booked a role in New Line’s The Babysitter, opposite Samara Weaving and Judah Lewis. Directed by McG, the horror-comedy follows a babysitter and a 12-year-old boy during a bonkers night when things go horribly wrong. Life and death lessons ensue. It started as a Black List script by Brian Duffield that ended up the subject of a bidding war, eventually won by McG’s Wonderland Sound and Vision.
The Babysitter is being co-financed through partnership between Zack Schiller of Boies/Schiller Film Group and Wonderland and overseen by New Line’s Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and Dave Neustadter. Duffield is exec producing with Wonderland Director of Development Steven Bell, along with Schiller and James McGough. McG and Mary Viola are producing. Production is set to begin this fall.
Lee most recently was seen in Pitch Perfect 2 from Universal, reprising her role from Pitch Perfect. She recently completed work on Coco, opposite Azealia Banks, Lorraine Toussaint, and Common, from Lionsgate, and on the indie films Unleashed and Frat Pack. She’s repped by Atlas Artists, Gersh, and Lichter Grossman.
Nicholas Gonzalez (The Purge: Anarchy) has taken a lead role in the independent feature film Praying For Rain. He’ll be playing Nico, a family man raised on a small local farm and member of a community devastated by the area’s prolonged drought. With his ability to make a living as a farmer gone, he becomes the local sheriff. Gonzalez recently was seen in a recurring role on the CW’s Jane The Virgin and on Amazon’s Bosch. He’s repped by Pakula King & Associates and LINK.
