After Monday’s record-breaking advance-sales day for Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which saw Imax gross $6.5M and Fandango, AMC and MovieTickets.com reap record highs, exhib-distrib marketing data corp Movio Media reports that 70% of those snapping up advance tickets to the seventh Star Wars title were males ages 18-49. The average age of those ticket-buyers was 34.

Other stats uncovered by Movio about Force Awakens ticket buyers: They’re regular moviegoers who attend at least once a month and spend 2.6X more in average at the box office than the typical moviegoer. Two-thirds of this crowd attend a new title, particularly uber tentpoles such as Jurassic World and Avengers: Age Of Ultron during debut week, with most heading out to the multiplex on opening night. Disney will open Force Awakens on December 18. Universal is counterprogramming that weekend with the Tina Fey-Amy Poehler raunchy femme comedy Sisters, while 20th Century Fox is going after young kids with Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip.
