CBS is developing Hot Sauce, a half-hour comedy from Drunk Wedding filmmaker Nick Weiss, writer-actor Gary Lundy and ABC CBS Logo Featured 1Studios. Co-written by Weiss and Lundy, Hot Sauce follows a high-powered, no-nonsense mom who relocates her family to small-town Louisiana to work for the most popular hot sauce company in the world. There she finds herself pitted against a culture and community she doesn’t want infiltrating her family. Weiss will direct the potential pilot and will executive produce alongside Kristin Newman (Galavant), who will supervise the script. Lundy co-executive produces.

This marks the first sale for Weiss and his Dormfire Productions under the overall deal he inked with ABC Studios in May following his work on the studio’s off-cycle “found footage” comedy pilot Family Reunion, which he co-wrote and directed. Weiss also recently directed and co-wrote with his brother Tony the micro-budgeted comedy Drunk Wedding for Paramount Insurge. At Dormfire, Hot Sauce is overseen by Ada Chiaghana.

Lundy has the feature A Happening Of Monumental Proportions set up at Depth of Field, with Jennifer Garner and Common attached to star, and Judy Greer to direct. He is repped by CAA, Echo Lake and attorney Logan Clare. Weiss is repped by WME, Scott Whitehead and Apostle’s George Heller. Newman is represented by UTA.
