Fox has put in development Affirmative Action, an hourlong dramedy from Sony TV and Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein’s studio-based Vendetta.

Sheldon Turner Jennifer Klein 6Written/co-executive produced by Kevin Costello, Affirmative Action is described as a serialized look at an all-minority federal task force led by a woman, Addison Cain (think Ronda Rousey — at once sexy and bad-ass), embedded in the predominantly white Houston Police Department to combat an unprecedented spike in violent crime. The unit was created as an attempt to alleviate racial tensions in the city. But what was intended to be a glorified PR campaign becomes a ragtag band of do-gooding misfits.

Turner and Klein executive produce. The two also developed with Costello, who came out of Fox’s emerging writers program, last season. Their heist drama The Ultimate Getaway also was set up at Fox.

This marks Vendetta’s third broadcast sale this season, joining surfing drama The 808 at Fox and a Fantasy Island reboot at ABC, both written by Turner.
