Lifetime has greenlighted the original movie Un-Break My Heart, based on Toni Braxton’s popular memoir. The Grammy-winning singer is attached to star and executive produce, and Vondie Curtis Hall (Abducted: The Carlina White Story) is set to direct. Production is slated to begin later this year.

Lifetime_Logo_Vector_CMYK_1_Coral_031313_02Named for her 1996 smash single, Un-Break My Heart is the authorized life story of Braxton, who has fought through a severe chronic illness, financial troubles and divorce while navigating her son’s autism and family struggles. The telefilm also is executive produced by Craig Baumgarten (Twist Of Faith), Erik Kritzer (The Runaround) and Marcus Grant; written by Susan McMartin (Mom, Two And A Half Men); and produced by Link Entertainment.

Lifetime’s announcement of Un-Break My Heart comes on the heels of NBC’s upcoming Coat Of Many Colors, based on the life of singer Dolly Parton. The cable net also has done recent biopics on R&B stars Whitney Houston and Aaliyah.
