Ato Essandoh has joined the cast of the as-yet-untitled next installment of The Bourne Identity at Universal Pictures. He joins Matt Damon, Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Julia Stiles. Paul Greengrass is directing what will be his third film in the series.

Essandoh, who co-starred in the BBC America series Copper, is currently starring in Vinyl, the HBO drama series set in 1970s New York. He also appeared in the films Django Unchained, Blood Diamond and Garden State, and his series work includes HBO’s Girls and CBS’ Elementary and Blue Bloods. He’s got a long list of theater credits, too. They are keeping his role under wraps as well as the plot of the film, which opens July 29. The script is by Greengrass and Christopher Rouse.

Frank Marshall is producing with Captivate’s Jeffrey Weiner, and Greengrass, Damon, Greg Goodman and Ben Smith are also producers. Rouse and Henry Morrison are exec producers. Essandoh is represented by Abrams Artists Agency, Sinclair Management and attorney Ryan S. LeVine.
