EXCLUSIVE: Director and TV personality Erik Anders Lang and producer Ryland Aldrich announced the formation of their Los Angeles-based production company Pictures, Pictures which will focus on feature films, long-form documentary series, short-form commercials, and branded content. One of the first projects that Lang and Aldrich have underway in pre-production is the Untitled Sia Documentary Project, co-directed by Lang and his wife, pop recording artist and songwriter, Sia. The doc offers a never-before-seen look at the Grammy nominated performer’s life.
Pictures, Pictures is also in production on Be The Ball, a documentary examining the link between golf and the mind featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Day, Deepak Chopra and others. The label is also producing the web series Adventures in Golf, which Lang hosts on PGA Tour’s SkratchTV.
Lang, who will serve as creative director, came into documentary filmmaking from the photography world where he worked under David LaChapelle. His doc projects include work for Serato, Louis Vuitton, Hollister, The Guggenheim, Honda, MTV, Pharrell, Public Enemy and TED. Aldrich will serve as Pictures, Pictures president of production. He has a 10-year background in production and distribution, overseeing films that have played theatrically and at Sundance, SXSW and international festivals. Recently, he produced the feature comedy Folk Hero & Funny Guy, directed by Jeff Grace and starring Girls’ Alex Karpovksy, 22 Jump Street‘s Wyatt Russell and Michael Ian Black. His thriller Enter the Dangerous Mind starring Nikki Reed, Scott Bakula and Jason Priestley played the 2013 SXSW festival. Pictures, Pictures. is represented by CAA.
