Fox has bought Miami-set drama 305, from Endemol Shine Studios, with a script commitment plus penalty. Written by Sascha Penn (Survivor’s Remorse) and directed by Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), 305 — named after the Miami area code — is executive produced by Miami-born-and-raised rapper Armando Perez, known by his stage name Pitbull.
In 305, when Willy is pulled from his rundown high school and sent to live with his uncle, a celebrity chef, and attend the wealthiest private school in Miami, he attempts to acclimate himself to his new surroundings while dealing with relationships, family drama, work and all the problems that more money brings. Penn and Levine executive produce. Perez also exec produces, and David Ortiz co-executive produces through Honey I’m Home. At Endemol Shine, the project is being overseen by EVP Jeremy Gold.
305 expands Fox’s relationship with Perez and Endemol. The network has been airing New Year’s specials hosted and produced by the rapper live from Miami. Perez also is set to appear on the second season of Fox’s blockbuster drama Empire.
Penn is repped by CAA and Madhouse Entertainment. Pitbull, Honey I’m Home and Levine are with CAA.
