Director Catherine Hardwicke has teamed with her Thirteen star Nikki Reed, Lady Gaga and Oscar-winning songwriter Diane Warren for a public service announcement tied to the documentary The Hunting Ground, about rape on college campuses. In the clip, which hit the web tonight, Gaga performs “Til It Happens To You,” Warren’s song from the film. The black-and-white video features disturbing images of sexual assault and its repercussions.

“After watching The Hunting Ground, I was inspired by the survivors who had the courage to tell their stories,” said Warren. “This song, with its message of hope and empowerment, is my heartfelt tribute to them and will also resonate with anyone who has been bullied, lost a loved one or just feels alone in the world.” Said Hardwicke: “I hope that this PSA, with its raw and truthful portrayals, will send a clear message that we need to support these courageous survivors and end this epidemic plaguing our college campuses.”

Two-time Oscar nominee Kirby Dick directed The Hunting Ground, which Radius released in February. The film was produced by CNN and will air on the cable news net later this year.
