EXCLUSIVE: Amazon is completing negotiations to finance Desired Moments, a Griffin Creech-scripted film that has Kristen Wiig attached and prolific award winning commercials director Tom Kuntz set to direct with production to begin in January. Among Kuntz’s many commercials is the DirecTV campaign with dual Rob Lowe’s, comparing cable with the satellite service. Kuntz has helmed many other spots, music videos and short films. Michael London is producing with Janice Williams through Groundswell Productions, and they are looking to lock the male lead quickly.
This is one of Amazon Studio’s first in-house film productions since veteran indie producer Ted Hope was brought in to generate original feature productions that will be distributed theatrically before becoming available on Amazon. Desired Moments is a dark comedy about Joe, a midwestern TV station employee who becomes obsessed with a bizarre wish-granting service he discovers on the internet. It has elements of the magical realism found in films by the likes of Charlie Kaufman, Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry. Both Wiig and Kuntz are repped by UTA and Kuntz is Anonymous Content. Creech is repped by 3 Arts and attorney Lev Ginsburg.
