EXCLUSIVE: Taking her role-modeldom to the next level, Beth Behrs, one of CBS2 Broke Girls, will write a lifestyle guide-cum-memoir for the young and the rested published by Weinstein Books. Behrs plays blond heiress-undone Caroline to the free-spirited and of course brunette Max of Kat Dennings on the sitcom about two waitresses odd-coupling their way through life in the big city. Behrs promises a “down-to-earth, empathetic and often laugh-out-loud book offering a holistic and practical approach for readers to regain control of their physical and emotional health while reaching for and achieving their most ambitious dreams.”

Amanda Murray of Weinstein Books/Perseus Books Group acquired North American publishing rights in a deal represented by Todd Shuster and Elias Altman of Zachary Shuster Harmsworth on behalf of Tony Lipp and Nicole Romano of Anonymous Content.

cbs-2011-2-broke-girls“My journey to well-being has been a long one, and I’m eager to share what I’ve learned so that my readers won’t have to make the same mistakes I did,” Behrs says, adding that the book will include recipes for healthy meals as well as a somewhat comic approach to exercise for “a fun and manageable ways to center your life.”

Between the jokes and the health tips, Behrs will tell the story of how she went from being a junk-food-eating couch potato with few prospects to landing her part as Caroline Channing on the breakout hit 2 Broke Girls in 2011. Right as her film and television career took off, though, her body shut down from years of eating poorly, avoiding exercise and feeling low in energy. She’ll reveal how she turned it all around through “hard-won but easy-to-follow steps toward self-revitalization.”

“I want people to know that they don’t have to go to Soul Cycle five times a week to look good and feel great about themselves,” she said. “Big changes start with small steps.”

Behrs recently starred with Sally Field and Max Greenfield in the indie comedy Hello, My Name Is Doris, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival. Roadside Attractions acquired the film and is planning a 2016 theatrical release. She also voiced Carrie Williams, the fearless leader of the Python Nu Kappa sorority, in Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University.
