Brit directors Anand Tucker and Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’ Diary) are launching a production company with the backing of All3Media.  The new company, called Seven Stories, will create TV projects for broadcasters in the UK and U.S. All3Media will hold an undisclosed stake in the company and distribute its content through All3Media International.

Studio Lambert chief executive Stephen Lambert becomes Seven Stories’ non-exec chairman. Lambert was responsible for introducing Tucker and Maguire to All3Media chief executive Jane Turton.

Maguire and Tucker have tapped Sky drama exec producer Jo McClellan and Pathe Productions’ head of creative affairs Colleen Woodcock, who will both join as creative directors. McClellan’s credits include Sky-HBO co-production The Last Panthers. Woodcock’s credit as production exec include Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire.

Tucker recently directed the first four episodes of TV drama Indian Summers, which is distributed by All3Media International. He has also produced the likes of Peter Webber’s Girl With A Pearl Earring.

Maguire is making a return to directing with Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third installment in the Renée Zellweger-starring comedy. Maguire and Tucker previously worked together as producers on the 2008 film Incendiary, starring Ewan McGregor.

“As the barriers between film and television are becoming increasingly fluid, we’re excited to be bringing the relationships that we’ve built over the years across both media to the slate we’ve been building,” commented Tucker.

John Malone’s Liberty Global, along with Discovery Communications, closed a deal last year to acquire production powerhouse All3Media, which in turn this March closed a deal to acquire Sam Mendes’ Neal Street Productions. Liberty Global has since upped its stake in British broadcaster ITV to 9.9% from 6.4% as well as closing a deal to acquire Ireland’s TV3 in July. Liberty Global is the largest cable company in the world, with 27 million customers across 14 countries. Assets include Virgin Media, Unity Media and Ziggo. The company is looking to diversify its offering by owning more wireless assets so it can get into the quad play business, offering TV, landline phone, broadband Internet and wireless service.
