Independent film and television distributor Alchemy has filled three executive positions to support the company’s rapid growth, naming Scott Guthrie as COO, Jim Jenkins to oversee Mergers & Acquisitions and Norbert Hudak as SVP Affinity Pods & Business Development.
Guthrie will report directly to CEO Bill Lee and will oversee several divisions including Strategy & Planning, Operations, IT and Human Resources. Before Alchemy, Guthrie held positions with several entertainment and consumer product companies including EVP of Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment; EVP and General Manager of MTV Games, where he oversaw development of the Rockband franchise; and EVP Publishing for game developer THQ. He also spent 10 years with the Walt Disney Company, heading up North American sales and distribution, and most recently served as COO at online gaming platform Kizzang Sweepstakes.
Jenkins was promoted to EVP Strategic Business Development and Mergers and Acquisitions, after joining Alchemy this year as SVP for the same. He previously worked at Sony Digital Audio Disc Corporation’s SVP Business Development and before that was a consultant for a number of companies, including Cinram, Sony BMG and HIT Entertainment, as well as executive roles with Lionsgate and Artisan.
Huak joins Alchemy from Cinedigm Corp, where he served as SVP Brand Management, and over his career he’s held similar positions at Gaiam Vivendi, Vivendi Entertainment and Genius Products. He began his career launching the Sports Entertainment Division of Warner Bros Home Entertainment.
Among the projects distributed by Alchemy as works by Richard Linklater, Werner Herzog, Gregg Araki, Dito Montiel, John Hillcoat, John Turturro, Lee Daniels, Oren Moverman and James Cameron. The company’s upcoming releases include Meet The Patels, Mia Madre, The Lobster and Rob Zombie’s 31.
