Sunday night viewers got a glimpse — a very tiny glimpse — of HBO’s coming hourlong dramatic series about “the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.” The 30-second first look at the show — inspired by the 1973 film written and directed by Michael Crichton — was presented as a lead-in to the 9 P.M. ET/PT season-finale of True Detective (you can watch the clip above). HBO is looking for the all-star extravaganza to be the next Game Of Thrones.
Interweaving a theme-park setting and animatronics with science fiction and Wild West iconography, the Crichton film presaged the kind of genre mash-up that would soon become a Hollywood staple. The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Jimmi Simpson, Clifton Collins, Jr., Simon Quarterman and Angela Sarafyan.

Ben Barnes!? I was wondering where he’s been.
Loved the movie. To bad this is a JJ Abrams production: He’s way too experienced at screwing up a franchise to make money. Short term he makes money for the investors but long term leaves crap that will have to be ignored if those product lines are ever going to have a chance when someone else picks up the pieces when he is done.
Examples? I could probably give you Star Trek, but what other franchises has he “screwed up”?
I’m more disappointed on how little this trailer shows. It’s so little, I’m not even sure if this counts as a teaser.
It’s a ‘tease’, I was hoping for more and then saw the 30 second runtime and was disappointed. But it’s done it’s job! Can’t wait for the full trailer
+1
jj turns everything he touches into a tub of vanilla pudding.
Trying to figure out if your comment is a compliment or an insult. I suppose it depends on whether one likes vanilla pudding. I don’t.
Hot damn! Lesbian Robot Sex! Yowza!
Oh and Anthony Hopkins is also a robot.
That’s the big spoiler twist right? Of course it is.
*sigh ONE light skinned black girl. One light skinned black guy in a supporting role we’ll see every four episode for some exposition. Zero writers of color on staff. Zero producers of color. It’s just sad because it’s that way by choice.
At least his wife got a job. See, female TV writers just marry well and you’ll get staffed.
It may sounds silly, but it is just as hard for two newbie white guys to get staffed on a show. So after watching opportunity pass us by, time and time again, we decided to create out own.
Sexist psycho.
so that is what makes a movie or show interesting to you?
Not the trailers, logline, or poster but the racial makeup of the cast and creators?
Jeez…..don’t even know how to respond to that. Sad state of affairs though if thats the thinking in 2015.
I’ll miss Yul Brynner
This is going to pale to Ex Machina.
So…..is Anthony Hopkins going to start eating the people? Maybe with some fava beans and an nice Chante.
30 seconds and that warrants people shitting on something that hasn’t even been presented in its proper context? The Troll Nation needs a new outlet already. I miss the days when you got excited by the arrival of the Fall Preview issue of TV Guide. This endless stream of punditry on TV makes me not want to watch a darn thing. If everything sucks before it airs, why would anyone bother?
