When Vin Diesel talks on social media, people listen. The action star who has 95 million Facebooks likes announced via Instagram that he is doing a third installment of the xXx franchise, with filming set to start before year’s end.

This would be Diesel’s first return the decade-dormant franchise since 2002’s original xXx, when he starred as extreme-sports athlete who is blackmailed into becoming a government operative Xander Cage. He sat out the second pic in the series, 2005’s xXx: State Of The Union, in which Ice Cube starred. Now, apparently, Diesel is poised to return:

xXx made $142 million domestic on the heels of the original Fast And The Furious. And of course, Diesel is running hot again with Furious 7 becoming the fifth-biggest movie of all time worldwide. No cast or director is set for xXx3, but Rob Cohen helmed the original and Lee Tamahori the sequel. Revolution released both. Diesel says filming is slated to begin on the threequel in December in the Philippines. Stay tuned.
