We’re getting the first extended look at Bryan Cranston as a fighting-mad blacklisted 1940s screenwriter in Jay Roach-helmed Trumbo. Dalton Trumbo’s (Cranston) successful career comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs, but Trumbo won’t have any of it. The pic tells the story of his battle against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.

The film also stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Louis C.K., David James Elliott, Elle Fanning, John Goodman, Diane Lane, Alan Tudyk and Michael Stuhlbarg. John McNamara penned the screenplay. Bleecker Street Films releases on November 6. Take a look at the trailer above and let us know what you think.
