Tony Lara, who appeared on Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, died Saturday in Sturgis, S.D. He was 50. Lara was found dead at a private residence in Sturgis, and autopsy results are pending for a cause of death, according to the local sheriff’s office.

Lara is described on Discovery’s website as a crab catcher who joined Deadliest Catch to help Josh Harris out as captain of the Cornelia Marie after Capt. Phil Harris died in 2010,

On July 24, former Deadliest Catch associate producer Joseph McMahon was shot and killed in front of his house in Pasadena. He was 24. Later that day, then L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect in the shooting was found dead in his car of an apparently a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
